“Delaying death is one of my favorite hobbies” – Rick Riordan, The Mark of Athena

The 100th episode of The Vampire Diaries started out with a bang but limped over the finish line. Katherine is dying and everyone gathers to reminisce about her affect on their lives. Nadia hatches a plot to save Katherine. Elena and Damon try to deal with their break-up. Caroline has a surprise encounter in the woods.

The episode opens in 1492 in Bulgaria. A pregnant 17-year-old Katherine (Nina Dobrev) goes into labor in her home. The scene then cuts to present day Katherine, who is in the hospital after suffering a heart attack and the staff is trying to resuscitate her. Cut back to 1492 where her mother is coaching her and Katherine gives birth to a girl. But her father won’t let her hold her daughter, saying she has shamed the family, and walks out the door with her baby. Katherine pleads with him as he leaves, and then cries hysterically to her mother. Her mother tells Katherine it is for the best.

In the hospital waiting room, Nadia (Olga Fonda) finds Stefan (Paul Wesley), who tells her that Katherine has had a heart attack. She responds that Katherine Pierce will not die from it. Cut to Katherine, where the repeated attempts to restart her heart are successful. Stefan tells Nadia that the doctors say she is in organ failure and won’t last the rest of the day. He says he’s compelled the doctors to let him to take her home.

Back at the Salvatore house, Elena (Nina Dobrev) is in bed staring miserably at her alarm clock and pulls the covers over her head. Caroline (Candice Accola) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) burst in with a huge “break-up breakfast” tray (Enough for a horse!) and try to get Elena to get up. Bonnie wonders why Elena is giving up on Damon and Caroline fires back because Damon said it himself — he’s bad for her — and quotes the entire break-up speech. Elena admits she must face reality about Damon, that when he’s made his mind up, that’s it. She then gets a call from Stefan.

Damon (Ian Somerhalder) meanwhile, is seemingly passed out with his head on the bar at the Mystic Grill with a bourbon bottle and glass near by. Matt (Zach Roerig) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) walk in to find him, and wonder aloud why Damon broke up with Elena. Damon responds by “waking up” and pouring himself a glass while telling Matt and Jeremy he heard them (uh-huh!). When Matt asks if it was just a fight they had, Damon receives a call from Stefan.

In the living room, Damon is pouring shots of bourbon into several glasses, explaining the rules of his drinking game to Matt and Jeremy. Rule Number 1 is to talk about the worse thing Katherine Pierce has done to you (and take a shot); Rule Number 2 is to think of something worse (and take a shot); and Rule Number 3 is to repeat Rules 1 & 2 (and take a shot). Damon goes first, then Matt who says Katherine killed his sister Jenna (he couldn’t can’t think of anything at first — really?), and then Jeremy says Katherine had Silas kill him. Damon then has them take a fourth shot of bourbon after they’re done. (Everyone will be wasted in short order at this rate!). Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie enter the room where Elena announces that if anyone is going to be drinking to Katherine’s last days, it will be her, and throws back a shot. (You go, girl! Damon’s face is priceless). Then Bonnie and Caroline join in with their “reminiscing” of Katherine, quickly finishing off the first bottle of bourbon. Matt volunteers to go to the basement to get more.

Upstairs, Katherine is in bed with Stefan at the bedside. She realizes that what they are doing downstairs, but Stefan calls it reminiscing. Katherine insists she’s wrinkling and asks Stefan to kill her if she starts sagging anywhere. Stefan takes her hand in his and strokes it, saying she’s vain even on her deathbed. She asks him why he’s being so nice and he says because she’s dying, he thinks he stir up some compassion. (Face it, he’s got feeling still or is he really that nice?).

In the basement, Matt selects a bottle of bourbon and turns to find Nadia. He says her name as a question and she tells him to be quiet. She gives him a right hook to the face and promptly knocks him out.

Back upstairs, everyone is getting drunk, Stefan walks in tells them to knock it off and accuses them of being insensitive. Damon responds that a frail Katherine shouldn’t cloud Stefan’s memories of the psycho that she is, and offers him a shot of bourbon. Stefan recounts how Katherine in 1694 compelled him to love her, seduced Damon and made them both vampires, and then started a war with the town that got them killed. Then Stefan points out that Katherine was an innocent shunned by her family and for 500 years
she lied and manipulated her way to survive. He says that’s who he would drink to today; to Katherine the survivor. And he drinks the shot. Damon accuses him of being brainwashed by one night with Katherine, to which Elena is shocked to hear. Caroline blurts out that she forgot to tell her because Elena was kidnapped at that time.

Stefan volunteers to get another bottle, but Damon gets up and greets Nadia (“the Devil’s spawn”- That’s accurate!) as she enters the room. Damon asks Caroline if she told Elena that one to which Caroline responds with a hand slap to her head, and Elena downs another shot. Nadia says she has found a way to save her mother, Katherine, and needs their help. Damon says no, and warns Stefan not to or he’ll kick him to Kentucky. He warns off everyone else from volunteering as well. Nadia says she has buried Matt on the Salvatore property without his ring (she shows everyone the ring) in the safe that Stefan almost drowned in last summer.

Nadia, with Stefan and Elena, pull up to a boarded up house out in the woods. Elena demands to know where Matt is, to which Nadia replies that she’ll tell them once they help Nadia get what she needs – a Traveler. She tells them that Katherine was born a Traveler and can be a passenger inside someone else’s body if a Traveler teaches her how to do it. Elena asks why Nadia wants to save her mother who killed her boyfriend (who was a passenger inside of Matt). Stefan says because MacGregor (the boyfriend) tried to kill Katherine. Nadia explains that she is going to make Katherine a passenger in her body.

Out on the property, Caroline, Jeremy and Bonnie search for where Matt might be buried. Jeremy talks about making bad choices in relationships and Bonnie takes offense, to which Jeremy’s answer makes Caroline realize they are a couple and asks Bonnie why she didn’t tell her since she is her best friend. Bonnie takes offense to that. She and Jeremy tell her that Elena doesn’t know. Caroline bemoans the fact why she isn’t having scandalous sex like everyone else. An uncomfortable Jeremy suggests they split up to find Matt and they leave Caroline by herself.

Katherine dreams about 1492 again. She enters her home to find her entire family murdered. Damon appears in the dream and Katherine tells him to get out of her head. He recounts how she ran when Klaus wanted to make her a blood sacrifice and when she returned, she found he had massacred her family. He says she is responsible for her family’s deaths. She fiercely disagrees and cries over the body of her dead mother. Meanwhile, Damon is about to smother her with a pillow over her face and Sheriff Liz Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) enters the room and tells him to put it down. (Can you blame him?) Liz tells him if he doesn’t, she’ll have to charge him with murder, lock him up, and do a lot of paperwork (hilarious!). Damon says everything wrong he’s every done is linked to Katherine and she’s ruined him. Liz takes away the pillow from him and tells Damon that Katherine still has power over him but needs to prove Katherine wrong.

In the woods, Caroline is calling out for Matt when she is surprised by Klaus (Joseph Morgan).

Inside the run down Travelers’ house, Stefan and Elena find out they have been tricked by Nadia. She introduces them to Mia, a Traveler whose services Nadia bought in exchange for giving Mia doppelgangers — Stefan and Elena. She says she has no idea why they wanted doppelgangers and she and Mia immediately leave the house together. Elena tries to go outside but is burned by the sunlight. Their rings have been compromised so they can’t leave. Several Travelers approach and surround Stefan and Elena, chanting something.

Meanwhile, Caroline and Klaus play tag in the woods. She confronts Klaus about being there to pay his respects to Katherine. She says he’s only there to gloat over 500 years of revenge. Klaus confronts her about Tyler; that he heard she and Tyler broke up (he smiles so devilishly as he says this). Caroline says he gave Tyler a choice: her or his revenge plans and he chose his revenge. She suggests to Klaus he learn from that and let Katherine die in peace.

Back at the house, Sherriff Liz has brought Katherine several syringes of sedative from the hospital to ease her pain, but she refuses them. Katherine says they will make her weak and more susceptible to Damon (who is at her bedside) getting into her head. Katherine tells Liz that it was her fault that Elena and Damon broke up and Damon responds by injecting her with one of the sedatives to shut her up for awhile. Katherine dreams about riding in a carriage with her friend Emily, through Mystic Falls in 1864. They are on their way to the Lockwood Plantation when they come across another horse drawn carriage with a broken wheel. Their driver stops to assist the young man, who turns out to be Stefan. Katherine immediately is attracted to him and wonders if his family would take her in as she is “a poor orphan girl”. She wakes up and Damon asks her what that was about and she responds that’s the real story about how she met Stefan. She doesn’t want to believe in the prophesy of the doppelgangers but she said she can’t explain how she felt it was fate when she first laid eyes on Stefan.

At the Travelers’ house, one of the Travelers places two buckets at their feet. He attempts to cut Elena’s arm but Stefan tries to stop him. Elena says it’s okay; he probably wants doppelganger blood. They are both cut and their blood drains into the buckets. Elena asks Stefan why they aren’t healing (Because they want two buckets full of their blood?).

Back in the woods, Caroline continues to look for Matt. Klaus appears again, and asks her if she would give him the same choice she gave Tyler — to choose her or his revenge on Katherine. Caroline says he can’t just distract her while she’s looking for Matt (She almost looks like she’s trying not to laugh). Klaus says he’s heard Matt’s screams and Matt will be quite happy with his rescuer. Somewhere in the woods, Matt opens up the safe and climbs out. He looks around and finds a smiling Rebekah waiting for him. “I’m gone three months and look at the trouble you’ve got yourself in,” she says to him.

Damon sedates Katherine and she hallucinates about Jenna Sommers (Sara Canning) stabbing her in the stomach and John Gilbert (David Anders) cutting off her fingers (acts that she had done to them).Elijah (Daniel Gillies) seemingly comes to her rescue but as she touches his face affectionately, he turns into Damon (Cruel joke!). Just as Damon tells her that no one is coming to see her because no one cares, Nadia breaks Damon’s neck. (Ouch!). Nadia asks Mia to come into the room and to “get on with it”. (Transfer of Katherine’s soul into her? Not so fast…).

At the Travelers’ house, Stefan is thankful he’s not claustrophobic anymore, and Elena realizes that Katherine helped Stefan get over it and Stefan confirms it. He admits he just can’t hate her even though he should; he just wants her to find peace. Stefan tells Elena not to give up on Damon, like she never gave up on him. Damon just hates himself and all what he’s done. Stefan looks at his arm and it starts to heal. Elena wonders if all they wanted from them was a bucket of blood. She places her hand in the sunlight from the window and it doesn’t burn, so they both take the opportunity to escape.

Damon lies unconscious on the bedroom floor while Nadia asks Katherine to repeat the spell so she understands how the Passenger works. Once she does, Nadia explains that Mia will activate it by calling her forth and Katherine will live. But Katherine refuses to do so and asks Mia to leave them alone. She tells Nadia she regrets that she didn’t fight harder to keep her when her father took Nadia from her. Katherine says she’s spent 500 years not making the same mistakes and in the end, she’s had a long full life which included getting to know her daughter. She hands Nadia a syringe and tells her not to waste another minute on her, that it’s her turn to live. She wants to do the right thing as she’s been selfish all her life. Nadia refuses and tells Katherine to go ahead and leave her, that she won’t sit beside her and watch her die. An upset Nadia stalks out of the room and Katherine injects herself. (Does she really want to die?)

Back to the woods…Klaus says now that the quarterback has been saved (sort of like, “save the cheerleader” in Heroes?) he will leave Mystic Falls minus the gloating over Katherine’s corpse in return for a favor. He said he wants Caroline’s confession about him. Caroline looks at him sort of knowing; sort of confused. Klaus says when he leaves he won’t be coming back and Caroline will no longer have to cover their connection with hostility and revulsion. She won’t have to cover the dark part of herself that likes him despite what he has done. And she’ll be free. Caroline responds that she is in college; she has a future; she has plans and none of which include him. She admits that she uses hostility to cover her true feelings for him but if he promises to walk away and never come back, she will be honest with him about what she wants (Ohhh this is getting good). Klaus promises he will do just that. Caroline replies “good” and then goes in for a kiss. They part and smile at each other before making out up against a tree. (Can we say, hot scene?).

Meanwhile, Damon wakes up from Nadia’s attack as Stefan walks in. Stefan asks what happened and Damon says it was a shocking twist (typical Damon humor!) from Nadia. He tells Stefan Katherine’s all his; that he’s had his fun messing with her mind all day. He needed an outlet after a rough couple a days. He leaves and Stefan sits at her bedside. He says he came to say goodbye and asks her to close her eyes. Katherine goes back to the 1492 memory of her family massacre. Stefan asks her why she comes back to this memory. She says it was the worst day of her life, that it was her fault and she deserved everything that happened to her; she doesn’t deserve to be loved. Stefan asks her to open her mind to him. He asks her look at each family member, and Stefan makes them disappear. Katherine asks what he’s doing and he said she deserves peace. He tells her she was just a 17 year old girl and none of it was her fault. She hears her baby’s cries in the room and picks her up out of her cradle and holds her in her arms. In the present, Stefan kisses a sleeping Katherine on the forehead and tells her goodbye. Elena is in the room and asks if she’s gone but Stefan tells her not yet; but because of the drugs, she won’t wake up again.

Sitting outside the house, Damon and Stefan share a drink. Stefan tells Damon that he needs to work things out with Elena, that she’s the best thing that’s ever happened to him. Damon responds he knows that and he can’t live without her. However, he thinks she’ll be better off without him because he’s no better than Katherine. Stefan looks at him like he’s nuts. Damon says he’s being selfless. He asks why can’t he have a selfless moment like Katherine did. He tells Stefan that he’ll remind him that it’s his fault if the universe isn’t happy the doppelgangers aren’t together.

Back inside the Salvatore house, Bonnie, Jeremy and Matt are in the living room when Caroline walks in, looking a bit disheveled in a sweat jacket (different from what she had on earlier in the day!) and pulls a leaf out of her hair (hilarious!). Matt asks her where she’s been and she says she got lost in the woods and zips up her sweat jacket higher. She sits down and asks what they’re doing and Jeremy says they’re waiting for Katherine to die. Matt asks Bonnie if she’ll feel Katherine when she dies and Bonnie says probably since Katherine is human. Matt asks her who else she sees on the other side, like anyone he knows. She says she sees Grams, and the other witches and Vicki but she doesn’t really like to talk about it. A female voice behind her says, “because it’s depressing as hell.” It’s Vicki (Kayla Ewell) and Bonnie tells Matt that she says she loves him. Vicki also says she watches over him and “to stop knocking around with the blond Original chick who almost got him killed.” (hilarious). Tyler (Michael Trevino) arrives and says Rebekah told him to tell Matt that he was her parting gift. He looks at an uncomfortable Caroline who acknowledges him back. A happy Matt gives Tyler a bear hug.

Stefan walks in and asks if they really went through four bottles of bourbon (Really? That’s all?). A male voice says. “Someone tell these idiots to lay off the booze.” Bonnie turns around and smiles as Jeremy looks over his shoulder and exclaims, “Alaric?” Jeremy tells Alaric (Matthew Davis) he thought he left them to go find peace. He says he wouldn’t leave Damon in charge. Damon looks around and asks if he’s talking about him, which Jeremy confirms. Damon holds up his glass and says cheers. Alaric responds with same. Just then, Bonnie looks across the room and says Katherine is here. Damon asks if “ding dong the witch is dead (funny boy)”. Katherine looks at Bonnie and says it’s too soon, she can’t leave yet.

Katherine then wakes up in her bed with Elena at her side. Elena exclaims that Katherine really doesn’t want to die and swore she heard Katherine’s heart stop. Katherine asks where she is, and Elena tells her she’s still alive. Katherine says she still has unfinished business to which Elena responds that she does too. She tells Katherine that she forgives her; that because Katherine lost everyone in her life and having no family to take care of her, she became evil. Elena doesn’t believe Katherine was born that way. She feels they are similar in ways. Katherine asks Elena if she can help her out and give her the last syringe. As Elena goes to inject her, Katherine thanks Elena for her forgiveness. As Elena begins to inject her, Katherine grabs her and chants the Traveler spell and Elena passes out. She wakes up to answer her cell phone. Mia who is riding with Nadia in her car, says one word and activates Katherine inside Elena. Nadia asks her if it worked and Elena checks Katherine’s body for a pulse (there is none) and says of course it worked, she’s Katherine Pierce (still vain!). She tells Nadia she’ll see her soon. Elena/Katherine checks herself out in the mirror and practices being Elena.

That was quite the episode, although a bit underwhelming in parts and seemed forced in others. It left more questions than answers. Now begs the question if Katherine and Elena will be as one for a while. Will everyone figure out what has happened? Why is Katherine like Teflon and not die? Why would Rebekah take Tyler out of his prison in The Garden in New Orleans and bring him back to Mystic Falls? Why is Klaus back chasing Caroline when there’s so much happening in New Orleans right now? Why did the Travelers collect Stefan and Elena’s blood? What will they do with it or has it to do with Katherine? How will Caroline deal with Tyler and vise versa now he’s back?

What did you think of this week’s 100th episode? Did it live up to your expectations?

Recently we caught up with “The Originals’” Joseph Morgan to talk a bit about his latest film, Armistice, as well as playing the anti-hero and of course the finer and favorite parts of portraying Klaus Mikaelson. Read on for the goods.

First, Morgan spoke about what attracted him to Armistice. “Working with the director, Luke Massey, was the main thing that attracted me to the project. I worked with him on a short film previously with Matt Ryan, who played the other role in Armistice. Luke was the director of photography, and it was just a great experience.”

“Luke was very much into the same films as I was and the same comics and books so we geeked out a lot together. When he presented me with Armistice, which is his directorial debut, and then I met Ben [Read], who wrote the film with him, it just seemed like the perfect opportunity to collaborate on a deeper level.”

“I had a fair bit of acting experience just before making it, but I didn’t have the profile that I have now, and I certainly didn’t have the experience of working on something not only as an actor but also on a producing level and being creatively involved in the decision-making pertaining to story and character development. Being a part of that inner circle was really, really attractive to me. It was a very rewarding experience. Not everything is as you’d expect it to be by the film’s end. This is something that I know I’ll be proud of for the rest of my career.”

In Armistice Morgan carries pretty much the entire film on his shoulders so we then spoke about the challenges he faced as an actor as a result. “I wonder if I’ll ever get to play a role again in my career where I have those moments to create. Especially now being in a TV show where the show is 42 and a half minutes long so your dialogue really has to be rattled off. There’s very rarely time in which you can spend a moment contemplating. It’s very punchy, and you often find that if you do have those moments, they end up being edited out to meet the time frame.”

Armistice_KA_26

In the role of Royal Marine, A.J. Budd, Joseph Morgan (IMMORTALS, “The Originals”) stars in this brutal psychological and supernatural thriller, in which he finds himself trapped in the Warhouse. Imprisoned, he is forced to fight for his life against grotesque, inhuman opponents. He must kill every day or die himself. His one glimmer of hope comes in the form of a diary, left by a former occupant of the house, WWI Lieutenant Edward Sterling, played by Matt Ryan (FLYPAPER, “Criminal Minds Suspect Behavior”). ARMISTICE is currently available on iTunes.

On Demand Weekly’s Sabrina Luppi spoke with Joseph Morgan about ARMISTICE, his previous roles and VOD.

On Demand Weekly (ODW): Are you doing so many horror/thriller movies & TV shows by choice or is it more coincidental?
Joseph Morgan (JM)
: It’s choice really. The more I do the more I get offered. But I’m quite happy to be working predominantly in genre just because that’s always what I’ve watched and read growing up that’s what I’ve been primarily interested in. I read graphic novels and watch a lot of film and TV and most of it is genre stuff so I am a huge fan.

Over 2500+ HD screencaptures of last night’s “500 Years of Solitude”, aka TVD #100, were added to the gallery. Click the thumbnails to view the entire album! Enjoy them but please PLEASE credit if you use them! It is VERY time consuming to cap, sort, upload and add screencaptures to the gallery (which explains why I haven’t been doing them in a long while because of lack of time).

“After me, the deluge (flood)” – Louis XV of France

Last night’s episode of The Originals was a game changer for the Mikaelson family. As Davina’s power grows too strong for her, it will set in motion a series of events that will bring the Mikaelsons together, rip apart their alliances, and put Klaus’ rule of New Orleans in jeopardy.

As the episode opens, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) is explaining to Haley (Phoebe Tonkin) that witches over the centuries have been both the vampires’ allies and adversaries. And a force to be reckoned with. The witches ancestral magic is what anchors New Orleans and there has never been a such a powerful witch before Davina. Klaus (Joseph Morgan) enters the room and announces that Davina is safely in her room, under his protection. He comments on the drawing of Celeste about how beautiful she is and evil, according to Davina. However, Elijah believes that Davina has mistaken power for evil because Celeste was very powerful in her day. He doesn’t understand why she did all of the sketches now, after Celeste has been dead for over 200 years.

Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) enters a bedroom room with a tray of food, and Davina (Danielle Campbell) sends him flying across the room telling him to go away. Marcel wants to make things right between them but Davina accuses him of not making Klaus pay for killing her friend Tim. Marcel assures her that he will, but for right now, he wants to make peace. She accuses him of wanting them to be one big happy “Frankenstein” family so he have control of her again. Using her powers, she sends a large vase at Marcel’s head and it smashes against the wall.

Downstairs, Haley, Elijah, and Klaus glance at each other as they hear the ruckus going on in Davina’s room. Klaus comments that things aren’t going too well and Elijah replies that you can’t win a girl’s trust when you poison her boyfriend. Klaus asks him if there are any other inopportune deaths he wants to wave in his face, to which Elijah responds, he’ll get Klaus a list if he gives him a month (Ouch!). Klaus announces that witches are a pain in the ass and makes his way to Davina’s room.

Meanwhile, Marcel is side-stepping everything that Davina is flying towards him. Suddenly, she starts coughing violently, and as Klaus enters the room asking what’s with all the racket, Davina coughs up a large amount of dirt onto her bed. Downstairs, Haley tells Elijah there’s something he needs to know, but before she can tell him, the compound starts violently shaking, sending things crashing down, like an earthquake is happening. Haley and Elijah run outside to see what’s happening. Klaus runs out of Davina’s room and onto the balcony of the compound, and sees people panicking as tables and chair shake off the floor and car alarms go off. He sees Rebekah who looks up at him and asks what is happening. Klaus answers her with one word: Davina.

Rebekah (Claire Holt) goes to see Davina and asks her what’s she’s doing. Rebekah reminds her she wanted Davina to disrupt the household, not the city. Davina is lying on her bed and she says she doesn’t know what’s wrong with her, but she didn’t do it on purpose. Rebekah stares at the dirt on the bed. Downstairs, Klaus asks Marcel how she could rock the entire French Quarter and asks how he controlled her in the attic. Marcel says he’s only seen her do the same thing to the church and he didn’t have to control her because he didn’t kill her boyfriend (Dig, dig!). Elijah says she has too much power that she can’t control but wonders why it’s manifesting itself like it is, so he exits saying he’s going ask a witch since this is witches business.

Haley tells Elijah as he’s leaving, that if he’s going to see Sophie, she needs to tell him something. She says that Sophie asked her to get information on where Celeste was buried, in exchange for lifting the werewolf curse. Haley said she went snooping into his personal journal and told her. She admits it was wrong and that she should have told him. Elijah is shocked and angry. He tells her that when a powerful witch is consecrated, their power goes back into the witch community. Celeste did not want her remains to be found for that reason, and he promised to bury her where she would not be found. Elijah tells Haley his promise to Celeste has now been broken by her. Haley says she believed they were only bones; Elijah retorts that if that is what she believed, why didn’t she directly ask him where to find Celeste. Haley can’t answer him and Elijah walks away.

Meanwhile, at the cemetery, Sabine (Shannon Kane) is in the process of creating a spell when Sophie (Daniella Pineda) walks in and tells her to stop what she’s doing. She’s figured out a way to complete the Harvest and they need to find Davina. Sabine asks her how and Sophie tells her she’s figured out how to become an elder. Sabine reminds her that to become one, she has to have that power bestowed upon her by all the other elders, who are dead. Sophie tells of a time in the 1742 when a massacre left the witches without any elders and they were told that if one of them consecrated a powerful witch, they’d become an elder. Sabine counters that, asking where is such a witch and Sophie presents her with Celeste, explaining she was Elijah’s lover and a powerful witch who was drowned. She lays out her bones and says she got Haley to find out where Elijah buried her. She will consecrate Celeste, absorb her power and become an elder. Sophie says they only have a couple more weeks to complete the Harvest otherwise all the witches will lose their power and they won’t be able to resurrect the three girls, including her niece who were sacrificed. She states she doesn’t care about anything else to which Elijah joins them and says that he cares and tells Sophie to go with him. Sabine’s expression softens when she watches Elijah leave.

Back at the compound, in a room with Klaus and Rebekah, Elijah has Sophie look at Davina’s sketches of Celeste and asks her to explain the coincidence of her stealing the remains of the person Davina has been sketching for months, but she can’t. She admits not even knowing who Celeste was. Just then, Davina screams upstairs and the house begins to violently shake, which startles Sophie. Sophie asks if that was Davina just then and if it was her that caused the “earthquake” earlier, to which Klaus confirms. Rebekah mentions that Davina is vomiting dirt as well. Sophie says they have to complete the Harvest now, because the power Davina got from the other three sacrificed girls, was meant to flow back into the earth and not meant to be held by one person and it’s now tearing her apart. Sophie says it will take them down with it.

Marcel meets up with Father Kieran (Todd Stashwick) and explains they need to prepare the city. Sophie has explained that as Davina self-destructs, she will cycle through the four stages that represent the four elements that bound together the Harvest. The first is the earthquake. Cut to Rebekah explaining the same thing to Davina, that the next stage is wind, and she’ll blow the roof off the place. Back to Klaus telling Kieran the next stage after wind is water, which likely means a flood. The worst will be the last stage – fire. He tells Kieran he didn’t take over New Orleans to see it burn down. He tells Kieran he’s going to stop it but he won’t like how.

Rebekah tells Davina that they are going to complete the Harvest. Davina cries out; she doesn’t want that to happen; she doesn’t believe the witches who say she’ll be resurrected. She says like Marcel and her, the witches will say anything to get what they want. Rebekah disagrees, tells Davina she cares about her; that she can relate to her. Downstairs, Sophie warns Elijah and Marcel they don’t have much time since the first sign has already come and gone. Marcel tells her to fix Davina, but Sophie responds that she can’t be. Upstairs, Rebekah administers a sedative to Davina explaining it will keep her calm and alive. Sophie warns that if they wait it out, only the Originals will be left. Just then, a strong howling wind starts up, banging the shutters of the windows and scattering stuff around the streets of the Quarter. Rebekah administers the sedative and Davina goes to sleep. The wind abruptly stops. Sophie asks if they’re now convinced.

Marcel goes up to Davina’s room and paces. Downstairs, Elijah tells Klaus that Davina has been sedated too heavily to which Klaus disagrees. He tells Elijah that just because they agreed to sacrifice Davina, there was no need to let her blow the roof off in the meantime. Marcel yells out that they are not touching her and jumps the balcony where upon he lands a right hook on Klaus’ jaw. Elijah tells Marcel that there is no way they can wait things out; Davina is going to die. He said if Sophie a non-believer thinks that completing the Harvest will resurrect the girls, then he too, is a believer. Marcel can’t believe that after he saved Davina, Klaus wants him to just hand her over to be sacrificed. Klaus responds that he doesn’t want it to happen either, but he has to protect the city. Marcel accuses him of only caring now about it. Elijah reminds Marcel they built the city. Klaus says he watched it burn to the ground twice and he won’t stand by and watch New Orleans be burned to the ground for a third time. Marcel leaves angrily. Klaus tells Elijah he’s off to warn a couple of prominent people. Elijah declines to go along, citing he wants to pay his respects to Celeste when she is consecrated (which he finds reprehensible). He brushes off Haley as she tries to ask him something. Klaus remarks that he thought Elijah was the people person. (hahaha! Good zinger!).

Meanwhile, Rebekah hits up Sophie with an alliance proposition. When the Harvest is completed and the witches have their power back, she will need an Original on her side since Marcel and Klaus will still be in charge and they don’t fight fair. Sophie asks why should she side with her and Rebekah tells her it’s not who you side with, it’s who you side against. In Davina’s room, Marcel thinks back to the Harvest and the girls who were sacrificed and how he saved Davina. He undoes the IV of sedative from Davina’s arm. Two of Klaus’ goons try to stop him, but he just easily breaks their necks and carries Davina out of the compound. (Can he really hide her?)

Back at the cemetery, Sophie begins preparing Celeste’s bones for the consecration. Sabine is near-by watching her, and Elijah is a few feet away, observing. He thinks back about Celeste and walks away. Sabine tells him he doesn’t have to stay as it will take time for Sophie to prepare. He responds that he has the time; he owes Celeste this. Sabine asks him why. Elijah asks her if she’s ever experienced something so wonderful that when it was taken from you, your life felt unbearable. Sabine says she has. He responds that when you love someone you have a bond that makes you vulnerable and that person has the ability to hurt you, like no one else. His phone rings. It’s Rebekah.

Klaus with Rebekah, have found the unconscious Day Walkers in Davina’s bedroom. She tells Elijah that Marcel has run off with Davina. Rebekah suggests they divide and conquer to find Davina. Elijah says he’s with Sabine, so maybe she can try a locater spell. Sabine nods yes. Klaus says he’ll check the church and talk to Kieran. Rebekah says she’ll check everywhere else (uh, yeah).

Meanwhile, Klaus finds a crying Haley is putting cans of ham into boxes. He warns her not to take them out to the Bayou as it’s not safe (is he caring now?) and she answers not for anyone. (That takes him back!). He grabs one box, tells her to grab the other and to go with him.

Back at the cemetery, with the strong winds blowing, Sophie does the consecration ceremony. Inside, Sabine is doing a locater spell, to find Davina but it’s not working. She explains to Elijah that it’s like Davina is everywhere, which means her magic is hemorrhaging and they have little time to find her. Elijah politely asks her to concentrate and try again.

In a warehouse somewhere, Davina wakes up and once again sends Marcel flying into a wall (he must have a headache by now). He assures her he isn’t going to hurt her, but Davina says she doesn’t believe him. Marcel explains that he put the protection spell on her and that’s why she’s alive and Tim is dead. If he’d known what was going to happen, he’d have protected Tim too. She asks if he saved her and Marcel says he did. But Davina confronts him that he just wants her as a weapon. Marcel admits to her that he did at first, that with her power, he could control the witches and rule the city, but it went to his head. However, that’s not the case now; he just wants to keep her alive. He promises no one will touch her, that he will fix things.

At St. Anne’s church, Klaus and Haley deliver the boxes of canned ham. Haley looks around and see a group of people. Father Kieran accepts them but says they haven’t used what Klaus had given them. Haley looks surprised but Klaus tells Kieran they are from Haley. Haley asks who the people are, and Klaus said he asked Kieran to give them shelter because that’s Father Kieran likes to do good (Great deflection tactic Klaus!). Klaus tells Kieran that Marcel has taken Davina. He is surprised and says they didn’t come back to the attic, so Klaus asks him to use his resources to help find them. Haley comments that the people are werewolves and is surprised that he is helping them. Klaus responds that they aren’t her werewolves; they are his clan from very far back. They’ve have fallen on hard times which has brought out the philanthropist in him and might be Elijah’s influence. (Poor Haley; he loves jerking her chain). She asks about his clan; Klaus says their blood runs in his and their baby’s veins. (Ah ha! The real reason he’s helping them). He advises Haley not to treat Elijah as he does. He says Elijah is accomplished in many things, but he is the Master of Forgiveness. (Hint, hint, girl! Klaus noticed there’s a rift between them. Awww.)

Back at the cemetery, Sabine concentrates on the map, and tells Elijah that Davina is located near the river, nothing specific. Just then, Sophie appears and says the consecration didn’t work because there’s nothing there. Elijah doesn’t understand because the magic is in the bones until consecrated. Sophie says someone must have taken it because there’s nothing there. Sabine has her head down while Sophie is talking (hmmm, is this a clue as to what happened?). Elijah says there must be another way, to which Sabine says no. But Sophie says unless he knows of another powerful dead witch whose bones were never consecrated, it’s over. To which Elijah responds, he does know of one — his mother.

At the compound, Rebekah tells Elijah that he has officially gone mad. Elijah points out that Klaus has stashed their dead, not staked, mother in a coffin and it’s in their basement. Elijah suggests that they put her to rest on land of one her ancestors, she becomes a New Orleans witch, and they will share in the ancestral magic. Rebekah points out that vampires can’t do magic, or own property to which Elijah agrees about the magic, but says they can own property.

Sophie back at the cemetery explains to Sabine that when the Mikaelsons bury their mother, they can channel all of her power to Sophie, but the hitch is that as the conduit, they must attend the Harvest. Cut back to Elijah, who explains to Klaus and Rebekah that not all their mother’s descendents are dead; the plantation is now in Haley’s name, because of the baby. If they bury their mother at the plantation, and consecrate the grounds, they can finish the Harvest Festival. Klaus agrees with Elijah to do this, but Rebekah, being the voice of reason, explains that their mother was the most powerful witch on Earth, and her power will go to the witches, their enemies, and used against them. Elijah says they have no choice. They look out the window at the rain storm starting and Elijah points out that next sign has begun. It is water. Rebekah reluctantly gives in and agrees with the plan. Klaus gleefully goes off to get their mother for the family reunion.

Rebekah goes to The Garden and asks Thierry (Callad Harris) where Marcel would hide something precious to him. Thierry however, isn’t eager to give up the information since he’s still entombed and not happy thinking he might drown. Rebekah reminds him that fire kills vampires and asks him if burning would be more pleasant than drowning. She promises to free him once everything is done. Thierry tells her there is a place by the docks where Marcel would go.

At the hideout, Davina tells Marcel she wants to hide out for a few weeks. He promises Davina he’ll get her out of town once everything is over. She tells him of her dream of being normal again with Tim. Rebekah appears and tells her that it was just a dream. Marcel yells at her to get out. Suddenly, Davina starts vomiting large amounts water. Rebekah tells Marcel that his stubbornness will cause her death. Marcel says he won’t let her die without a fight and Rebekah says he owes it to her, as her family, to do so.

In a pouring down rain and thunderstorm, the Mikaelsons and Haley stand at the open grave of their mother. Klaus asks Rebekah if she found Marcel and Davina, to which she says yes. He asks if Marcel will bring her, and she says she believes he will. Father Kieran passes a knife to Klaus and he cuts his palm. He passes it on and each of them do the same. The knife is handed back to Kieran and he tosses it into the grave, saying it is done.

Back at the cemetery, Sophie and Sabine are getting ready for the Harvest. The bodies of the three girls who were sacrificed have been laid out side by side. Sabine hands Sophie a silver dagger, in a cloth. She takes the knife and holds it over an open flame.

Meanwhile, Davina tells Marcel, it’s okay (to take her to the Harvest) but he says he failed her. She tells him she’ll die whether she does the Harvest or not. The only other option would be if she takes everyone with her. She tells Marcel that if this is the end (and she doesn’t get resurrected), she feels that she’s had a lot in her life, that not everyone gets even if they live to be 100 years old. And she had Marcel, who fought for her the moment they met. She says she’s ready.

At the cemetery, there is pouring rain with thunder and lightening. The three sacrificed girls lie side by side on a cement slab/alter. The Mikaelsons and Haley stand on one side, Sophie and Elijah on the other side. They watch as fire lights up the sky, trailing Marcel as he cradles Davina in his arms and brings her to the alter. Sophie runs the knife through an open flame and stands before Davina. She asks Davina if she believes in the Harvest and she says she does. Marcel watches as Sophie slits Davina’s throat. Haley gasps in horror and looks away. Rebekah closes her eyes. Elijah looks at Klaus who watches as Davina collapses into Marcel’s arms and takes her last breath. The rain abruptly clears up. The magic flows down Davina’s arm to her hand and disappears.

Davina is lying next to the other scarified girls. As the others stand near-by, Sophie starts the Reaping, and calls “upon our elders to resurrect the chosen ones” as she looks down at the girls. But nothing happens. Sophie repeats it twice, still nothing happens. She begs and then breaks down, realizing it won’t happen. The others are left in stunned silence. Marcel, angrily disappears and returns to the compound where he smashes up the furniture. Klaus finds him there. Marcel blames him for everything, saying they were all fine until he returned to the city. Davina was in control and she was safe until he got her worked up and killed Tim. Klaus tries to diffuse him with his condolences, and says they still have their vampire community, but Marcel says he doesn’t care; Davina is dead.

Klaus looks him in the eye and then embraces him as Marcel breaks down and cries on his shoulder. (Wow. Tissues please!). He tells Marcel he’s truly sorry. He also tells Marcel that he may think he knows nothing of his grief, but Marcel is wrong, Klaus does. With his hand on the back of Marcel’s head and one hand on his shoulder, Klaus looks him in the eyes and tells Marcel that in the days when he had fled New Orleans, he thought Marcel was dead and it took years before he could speak his name, because that’s how keenly he felt the loss. He again tells a crying Marcel he’s sorry twice more and embraces him. (Oh my goodness. That was heart wrenching. Klaus does have a soft, caring side after all. More tissues please!).

Out in the Quarter, Elijah bumps into Haley. She asks if he can forgive her yet and he says it’s not that easy. She apologizes again for what she did, but Elijah says she knows what Celeste means to him when she was in his head in the Bayou. She corrects him and says don’t you mean, meant to you. He says no and asks if she knows what love is. He says he has known it only twice in a thousand years and has honored it. She tells him that was 200 years ago and she prefers to live in the present, taking whatever she wants. (Hint, Elijah?). She asks him why he is choosing the dead over the living and walks away. He catches her arm and they are millimeters away from kissing. After some deep looks into each other’s eyes, he lets her go and she walks away (What is the deal, Elijah? So close!).

Meanwhile, Klaus pours Rebekah a drink and says even though things didn’t go the way he thought they would, they saved the city and he’s not complaining that the witches have lost their power. He compliments Rebekah on her resourcefulness on finding Marcel and Davina and asks her how she did it. She smiles and says she has her own spies in the Quarter, just like him. She says even Elijah’s plan was crazy, she thought it would work. Klaus agrees, believing that Davina would survive because she had so much life in her. Then a thought comes to Rebekah. She asks Klaus what happened to all that power from their mother, since the four girls were supposed to resurrect and none of them did. Klaus just stares at her, the wheels in his head turning.

Somewhere in the Quarter, Sabine is working a voodoo doll. Three pins are stuck into its chest and she drains blood from its neck into a challis. Out of the cemetery walks Bastianna (Shannon Eubanks), an elder who was killed by the vampires during the Harvest. The next person to appear is Papa Tunde (Owiso Odera) a man dressed in a 1930s (?) stripped suit and fedora. The last one is Genevieve (Elyse Levesque) dressed as a 1920s flapper. They join up on the street and Genevieve asks the others why are they here. Papa Tunde says because someone summoned them. Sabine appears before them and says she did. Bastianna looks at her and asks what is the meaning of this. She says she’s tired of being called Sabine for the past year and to call her by her real name….Celeste.

Okay, that was quite the creepy episode with lots of surprises. Here are my questions:
Did Sabine capture all the power from the Mikaelsons’ mother? Will she be so powerful that she will fight the vampires and Klaus for control of New Orleans? Can she be defeated? Why did she raise those particular elders? For more power? Is this what Davina saw coming in her sketches, what she meant by Celeste being evil? How did Sabine become Celeste or is she just thinking she is because she has her power? Why did she wait so long to emerge? What will Elijah think of Sabine/Celeste? What happens to the witches now that they have lost their power? Can they get it back somehow? Will Celeste give it back to them through the resurrected elders?

The Originals – The Casket Girls – Recap/Review

It may be a man’s world, but never underestimate the power of a woman.

The mid-season opener of The Originals takes on a powerful theme: Oppressed women will triumph over selfish men when they are brave enough to fight for themselves. Rebekah, Davina, Sophie, Cami, and Haley make plans to take back control of their lives.

The episode opens with Rebekah (Claire Holt) narrating the story of the legendary Casket Girls. A horse drawn coach with three women and their male companion ride across Louisiana Territory, with a flat bed of three coffins hitched behind them. It is 1751 and like other society women seeking love, they have came from France on a promise to marry proper New Orleans gentleman. They are on their way to the Governor of New Orleans’ mansion, but a band of rowdy, torch carrying men intercept the coach and try to get to the women. The frightened women hear a commotion outside and then everything goes quiet. Their male companion gets halfway out of the coach to investigate and is promptly killed. Rebekah appears, wipes blood from her mouth, and reassures them that the bad men are gone (evident by the bodies scattered near-by) and that “us girls” need to stick together. She then asks them if they need to bring anything, and escorts them away from the scene. The camera pans to the three caskets and then to the women. Two are opened and partially empty, containing lace and such; the third one is closed. Two women are running, following Rebekah, each carrying their wedding dresses in their arms. (Maybe the Casket Girls will be turned into vampires by the not so proper gentlemen they meet at the Governor’s mansion (hint: where the Mikaelson family entertains) and the men on the road were trying to intervene or had other horrible designs on them).

Back to present day. In the French Quarter, Rebekah walks amongst the celebrants of the Casket Girl day, a yearly reminder of how women can be oppressed by selfish men and how they can triumph when they are brave enough to fight for themselves.

Meanwhile, Davina (Danielle Campbell) has been ridding Cami (Leah Pipes) of Klaus’ mind compulsion (a painful process) throughout the night in Cami’s apartment. She still doesn’t understand what’s happening, but Davina reassures her she will when it’s completed. Josh (Steven Krueger) tells Cami that she’ll be fine as he’s been through it too and commends her on the notes she kept while compelled. Davina offers to stop the process, but Cami declines, as she wants to remember everything.

Haley (Phoebe Tonkin), wearing an off the shoulder wedding dress, is assessing herself in a full-length mirror, when Elijah (Daniel Gilles) joins her. He helps zip and button up the dress in back as she can’t reach it. He points out that her wolf tattoo is showing and it might not be a good idea to be out in public, unless he went with her. She unhappily decides not to join in the Casket Girl festivities so as not to rock the boat between Klaus and Elijah. She asks Elijah to undo the dress and their expressions leave no doubt that there is an unfulfilled chemistry between them.

Out in the Quarter, Rebekah is searching for a wedding dress costume when Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) interrupts her. She brushes him off, saying he relinquished his right to touch her when he and Klaus became best friends again. (Ouch, that hurt!) Marcel’s cell phone rings and Klaus informs him that Davina has escaped the compound. Back at Cami’s apartment, Davina continues the mind compulsion cleansing and Josh lays down her notes in front of her. Cami picks one up and remembers she saw a picture of Klaus and Marcel taken back in 1919. She also remembers Klaus telling her to date Marcel so she can spy on him; that Klaus told her to forget him and leave New Orleans; that her brother was sick. Davina tells her she’ll take her memory back further.

Meanwhile, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) insists that Davina has escaped but Marcel disputes that she would. Elijah comes into the room and says the violin is missing, so she must have left on her own volition. Marcel confronts Elijah about what he might have said to her and accuses Elijah of taking her. Elijah denies both accusations and says he doesn’t know why she left or where she is. Klaus insists she is now an enemy since she is not a friend of the family any more, and says he knows how to get her back. As he exits the room, Elijah tells Marcel that if Elijah perceives Davina as a threat, it will be bad news for her. Marcel and Elijah agree that no one will lay a finger on Davina. (What is this, the Knights in Shining Armor club?)

Haley and Rebekah look through wedding dresses in trunks, on the main floor of the compound. As the trio leaves to find Davina, Haley confirms with Rebekah that Davina is missing. Haley says she told Davina about the witch elders being dead, but Rebekah doesn’t understand why that would bother Davina enough to run off. Haley said she believes it’s because Marcel didn’t tell Davina that she was now free since the elders are dead. And they were just keeping her to keep their control over the witches. Rebekah likens Davina to a modern day Casket Girl: Used by the witches, lied to by Marcel, manipulated by Elijah, threatened by Klaus. Haley asks if Rebekah is talking about Davina or herself. (Thank you, Captain Obvious!). Rebekah responds that it doesn’t matter; the girls have got to stick together.

Meanwhile, Sabine (Shannon Kane) interrupts Sophie (Daniella Pineda) having a tryst in her shop, to tell her about Marcel and his Day Walkers out searching for Davina. Sophie brightens up and realizes that if she’s not with Marcel, they can practice magic without him knowing, find Davina, and fix everything. Sabine reminds her that when the sun goes down, the Night Walkers quadruple so time is of the essence to find Davina before Marcel does. Sabine holds up a hairbrush of Davina’s she found at her family’s old house and she asks Sophie if she wants to do a locator spell.

Back at Cami’s apartment, Davina is getting Cami to down vervain water so she can be protected from being compelled again. Josh is hungry, so Davina offers her wrist, but as she does, she has a vision of magic being practiced. The vision shows a map and Davina says that the witches are trying to find her. Cami suggests they need to leave the Quarter, but Davina says it would be impossible to leave without Marcel or Klaus knowing. Cami suggests getting her uncle to help them, but Davina says he knows everything and works with Marcel. Cami is shocked at the revelation. Josh gives Davina his key cars and tells them to go get it at the dock. Davina tells him to meet up with them later.

At the compound, Haley gets a call from Sophie about Davina. She needs something from her in order to complete the harvest. Haley needs convincing so Sophie tells her that without the harvest, their access to magic will be gone for good, which won’t bode well for Haley’s wolf family. She tells Haley that her bloodline executed the curse that Marcel put on the wolves and if Haley helps her complete the Harvest, she promises to undo the curse. Haley agrees and Sophie tells her she needs to consecrate the remains of a powerful witch, Celeste, whose body was never found, so she can absorb her magic. This was Elijah’s lover and he buried her in a secret spot when she died. Sophie needs Haley to find out where that is.

Meanwhile, Cami spots Klaus as she and a disguised Davina walk the Quarter during the festival. She tells Davina they need to get off the street and they take off. Elijah meets up with Marcel just a few feet away and tells him that Father Kieran will call him if he hears anything. Klaus accuses them of looking cozy. Rebekah shows up and offers to help look for Davina, much to their surprise. Klaus announces that they are only moments away from finding her. Elijah asks what his plan is and Klaus walks a few feet away and finds Timothy (Shane Coffey), Davina’s friend. He compels Timothy to have a chat with him.

At Cami’s apartment, Josh tries to get Cami on her cell phone to find out where to meet her and Davina. A call comes in from Klaus and Josh hilariously tells him that he’s in Turkey (and he’s eating turkey! Funny boy). Klaus accuses him of being with Davina and then asks Josh if he wants Timothy to be left alone with him. He tells Josh to get Davina to come back home soon. Taking that as a threat to Timothy, Josh desperately tries again to reach Cami.

Cami and Davina arrive at St. Anne’s, but Davina doesn’t want to stay. Cami finally gets Josh’s call and tells her about Klaus killing Tim if Davina doesn’t show up at the compound. Davina tells her she has to go but is interrupted by the appearance of several witches. They knock Cami unconscious, and Davina unleashes her power by elevating them into the air simultaneously and breaking their necks. (Ding dong, the witches are dead). She tries to wake up Cami who is still unconscious and then leaves for the compound.

At the Mikealson house, Haley tells Klaus’ two “bodyguards” that she is just going to grab some clothes and tells them to wait. She goes to the library and finds Elijah’s journal. She skims through the entries about Celeste until she comes to the part where Elijah says where he buried her.

On the street, Davina encounters Josh. She tells Josh she will kill Klaus and the rest. She says her power is getting stronger and it’s growing. Josh tells her if she does kill them, not to hold back and give it all she’s got. Rebekah appears as Davina leaves, and tells Josh that he was very noble not telling Davina that if she kills Klaus, he will die too. (Since Josh is in Klaus’ lineage). She believes if Davina goes after Klaus, she will die and that will be tragic, so she offers Josh the opportunity to help Davina.

At the compound, Klaus has Timothy up on a high beam near the ceiling, playing his violin. He asks Elijah where Rebekah is, but Elijah wants to know how he can be so sure that Davina will show up. Klaus says she will; she’s infatuated with Timothy.
Marcel shows up and tells Klaus that he should do the talking. Davina enters the compound and demands that Timothy be let down but Klaus says first they have to talk about her coming back. Marcel intervenes and asks her why she ran; that she can talk to him; he’ll make it right.
Klaus butts in and says threats always get him results, to which Davina unleashes her anger. She knows Klaus for what he truly is and uses her powers to turn him into the hybrid and then breaks his neck. She tells Elijah he lied to her and for thousands of years he’s been a murderer like Klaus. She has him choke on all that blood and he collapses to the floor with blood pouring out of his mouth (poor Elijah; he didn’t deserve that). She tells Marcel that she loved him but he used her to stay in power, that he doesn’t care about her. He says she’s wrong. She says she should boil him in bronze (Just like what happened to Hans Solo! Star Wars fans will remember!). He tells Davina he took her in like she was his own, blah blah blah. She looks like she’s being convinced but then Marcel crumples to the ground with two gapping holes in his chest.
Rebekah has staked him. (Got to love Rebekah!) She tells Davina that what she did was impressive and well deserved. She tells her she has a surprise for her and in walks Josh. Rebekah grabs Josh by the throat and tells Davina that if she were Klaus, she would rip his head off and feed it to a Day Walker but she’s not him. She doesn’t play boyish games. She demonstrates this further by having Timothy jump off the beam he’s on and helps him land safely on the ground. (She’s obviously trying to win Davina’s trust). Rebekah tells her she has one more thing to show her.

Sophie is on the phone with Haley wanting more detail about where Celeste is buried other than “between two lovely oak saplings”. She says after 200 years, there’s only trees. Haley suggests she have a little faith that she can do it. So Sophie hangs up and chants, asking for help. A strong wind starts blowing and a light appears across the field, highlighting the burial spot.

Meanwhile, Rebekah has taken Davina, Josh, and Timothy to The Garden, and explains this is where Marcel punishes his friends who betray him. They see the bricked up vampires which horrifies Timothy. Rebekah shows them Thierry (Callard Harris), Marcel’s most trusted friend. She explains that Marcel knows Klaus tricked Thierry into betraying him, but Marcel keeps him locked up and suffering. Rebekah tells Davina she is showing her this because she needs to know who she’s dealing with; who she can trust. Timothy tells Davina she’s going to be all right, handing her a bottle of water and tells her to drink, which she does (Uh-oh). Rebekah suggests that together they can get payback on Klaus. Just then, Tim admits that Klaus compelled him to make Davina drink the water that he has drunk too. Tim collapses, chokes and dies, to Davina’s horror. Rebekah realizes Klaus has poisoned the water (Didn’t see that coming?) and then Davina then collapses.

Back at St Anne’s, Father Kieran (Todd Stashwick) finds his niece Cami waking up at the alter and asks if she’s eaten today. She retorts that she got “cold cocked by some witches” (hilarious). She asks him if Marcel knows that Davina was here. She confronts him about knowing of the witches and vampires, as well as her brother, and not telling her. He weakly says “it’s complicated” (His answer is a Facebook relationship status?). She accuses him of lying to her and he says he was protecting her. She tells him to stay away from her, that he’s as bad as the other monsters in New Orleans, and she storms out of the church.

Marcel and Elijah recover from their ordeal as Klaus is on the phone asking Rebekah where she is. She tells Klaus that Davina is dying and accuses him of poisoning her. He tells her that Davina isn’t their friend or hers. She asks him how to cure her because vampire blood isn’t working (Josh tries to feed Davina). He tells her the poison he gave to Timothy and her is potent. Rebekah says he could have dealt with her fairly; to which Klaus says that Davina made her choice when she stood against him. Marcel and Elijah give him withering stares to which Klaus laughs at, saying that Davina bested the lot of them and he did what he had to do. Elijah accuses Klaus of compelling Timothy to poison Davina without consulting them. Marcel tells Klaus he’s so predictable that he made an alliance with Elijah whom he doesn’t even like. Klaus looks surprised and asks Marcel what he wants to share. Marcel says Kieran called him earlier right after Sabine and the other witches found Davina at St Anne’s.

Flashback to St Anne’s, Marcel is standing over Sabine when she comes back to life. He asks her if she used a protection spell which she says she did. She said the others should have done the same as she looks over at the dead witches. Marcel asks and Sabine confirms that the spell is a one time deal so he gives her two choices for breaking his rule of using magic. Either she can join the dead witches or do the protection spell for Davina. (Guess what choice she made?).

Back to the present. Klaus tells Marcel he was very clever for slipping away under false pretenses and colluding with a witch; Klaus sarcastically says he should probably be proud of him Marcel says he wanted a fail safe in case Klaus starting acting like, well, himself. Klaus is angry that he involved the witches which are enemies to their family. Elijah reminds Klaus that Davina is Marcel’s family. Elijah tells Klaus to call Rebekah and tell her that Davina will recover; he wishes the same could be for Timothy.
Back at The Garden, Davina comes back to life. Rebekah and Josh are relieved and happy, but as Davina tries to wake up Timothy, it’s obvious that he’s dead. She pleads for him not to leave her alone.

Rebekah carries a sleeping Davina back to the compound and Marcel carries Davina up to her room. As Marcel stands by her bedside, Elijah enters the room and Marcel says that she’ll never trust him again. Elijah responds that perhaps not, but he should never give up the fight to gain her trust back. Elijah looks at Davina’s drawing easel and asks Marcel what the sketches are. He said she draws them when she’s not sensing magic and called them evil.

Back on the street, Cami encounters a surprised Klaus. She tells him that she knows he compelled her to leave town and that she’s gone through painful de-compulsion but it was worth it. She tells a stunned Klaus that if he hurts Davina or Josh, she’ll tell the world about him and then he will lose the French Quarter forever.

Back at The Garden, Rebekah tells Thierry (and feeds him a bag of blood) that she is tired of being oppressed for the past thousand years and tired of Klaus taking whatever he wants when he wants it, regardless of the consequences. She is tired of Marcel and Elijah waiting around for Klaus to redeem himself. To which Thierry states the obvious, “So, men suck” and asks what she wants him to do about it. She asks Thierry to help her take New Orleans away from them and she’ll do it right under their noses. They won’t see it coming from someone on the inside.

At the mansion, Haley finds Elijah with Davina’s sketches spread out on the coffee table. He wants to know if they are some sort of premonition; he thinks they suggest something sinister is coming (A nod to “Something Wicked This Way Comes” by Ray Bradbury perhaps? Good creepy book). Elijah puts the sketches together and to his shock, Celeste’s face stares back at him and Haley gasps. Meanwhile, Sophie has finished digging and has reached the coffin of Celeste. Haley excuses herself and tries to call Sophie to warn her, but she’s not answering.

Wow, what an episode! Lots and lots of interesting stuff going on in this one. My questions are: Who exactly were the Casket Girls? Did they become vampires or were they “food” for the vampire parties at the Governor’s mansion (hosted by the Mikealsons)? Why is Celeste evil? Will her power that Sophie wants, be the threat to all witches or to The Originals or to New Orleans? Will Sophie become an all powerful witch, more so than Davina? Will Elijah be the key in stopping it? Will Rebekah be able to take down Marcel, Klaus, and Elijah by using Davina and Tierry? What will Tierry’s role be? Why did she pick him to help and how will Marcel react to her freeing Tierry? Will Davina’s power grow so much that it might kill her?
