After weeks of amassing his army, The Vampire Diaries’ Tyler is ready to take down Klaus. But what happens when Klaus catches wind of his plan?

“As soon as he learns what’s going on with Tyler and how there’s this hybrid revolution happening, [Klaus] will be utterly furious,” Joseph Morgan tells TVGuide.com. “We’ve seen some of what Klaus is capable of, but he’s going to go very far when this comes to a conclusion. He won’t take that lightly.”

In the last few episodes, Tyler (Michael Trevino) has worked with his friend Haley (Phoebe Tonkin) to help his fellow hybrids break Klaus’ sire bond. But all of Tyler’s work may be for naught since Haley seems to have her own agenda. “Like anything else [in Mystic Falls], nothing ever goes according to plan, something always goes wrong in the middle, and you have to adapt,” Trevino tells us. “[Stefan and Tyler] both have to figure out how they can both get what they need accomplished, hopefully, also saving people’s lives.”

(SPOILER) INTERVIEW: Joseph Morgan (Klaus) from The Vampire Diaries previews tonight’s Big Mid-Seaso

Tonight is the big mid-season finale of The Vampire Diaries, and from what I’m hearing, not everyone is going to survive the night. And from talking to Joseph Morgan (Klaus), not everyone is going to survive the season, either. When last we left Klaus, he was having a really nice moment with Caroline, and actually teasing her (and laughing) which was such a nice change of pace. What I think makes Klaus so interesting is how much the audience roots for a character who has done some truly evil things. When I spoke with Joseph Morgan, he talked about the Caroline/Klaus relationship and how it might develop, what to expect from tonight’s Christmas themed episode, the bromance with Stefan and so much more.

So in tonight’s episode, Klaus makes some sort of discovery, that’s going to raise the stakes.
I mean, you’re doing my job for me, yeah? (laughs) Klaus makes a discovery that raises the stakes. You’ve just given a really vague answer that heightens excitement and yet doesn’t say anything. That’s brilliant. Yes, it’s a holiday themed episode which I love. So there’s a Christmas element to it all, which I think is really great because nothing goes ever better than blood and snow. So yes, Klaus definitely does make a discovery and there seems to be a lot going on right under his nose that he’s been blissfully unaware of for a little while now, including this pending hybrid revolution. So I think in the tradition of all good mid-season finales, things are going to come to a bit of head in [tonight's] episode. And he absolutely is going to require some retribution for all the sneaking around that’s been done.

Klaus better watch out: On this Thursday’s midseason finale of The Vampire Diaries, his hybrid Tyler comes after him with the power of his wolf pack. The Original may not see the attack coming because the beautiful Caroline has been distracting him. But is Klaus really as in the dark as he seems? Has he turned the tables and charmed the blonde vamp for real? And how will he retaliate when all is revealed? Below, Joseph Morgan tackles our burning questions about this week’s “bloody” episode.

TVLINE | Everyone, from Caroline to Tyler, is playing Klaus this season. He can’t possibly be that clueless to what’s going on, can he?
[Laughs] I don’t think so, no. It seems like that, doesn’t it? Like everything’s going on right under his nose and he’s oblivious to it all. And there is a certain amount of distraction that’s come from wooing Caroline and having that somewhere near the forefront of his mind. But all of this deception is going to come out in the open very soon. It’s likely to all come to a head.

TVLINE | He’s a smart guy, so do you think maybe he’s known all along that something’s been going on and he’s playing along with it?
There’s certainly room for that. That’s an interesting idea. Even if he didn’t know everything, there’s absolutely room for the idea that he could have had an inkling of it. He’s been around the block a few times. He’s seen a lot of people trying to one up him. So yeah, I think you’re right. It would be crazy to think that he had no idea any of this was happening right on his doorstep.
