Hi there again loyal readers!

This is part two of the review for “The Vampire Diaries” convention in Parsippany, New Jersey that took place on August 18th and 19th 2012. If you missed part one, or are interested in rereading it, click here to be directed to it. As a short recap, on day one, the guests were Michael Trevino, Zach Roerig, and Steven R. McQueen. All three men had enjoyable, hilarious panels. The fans were able to learn quite a few new things at the convention. Everyone was excited to get their autograph or get a picture taken. Day two was bound to be just as exciting, if not more so. To add to the recap, I’m Erin, a member of the staff here at TVD Blood Falls. My two Twitters are @pinknightmarexo and @ErinECosgrove.

The celebrity guests on day two were Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Daniel Gillies, and Torrey Devitto.  Everyone still had an adrenaline rush from day one. Little did they know, it was about to increase even further once they saw the four wonderful guests. Paul had a solo Gold panel, followed by Torrey’s panel, Daniel’s panel, one with Paul and Ian, and then Ian’s separate Gold panel, which everyone was luckily able to witness. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to sit in on Paul’s Gold panel so there aren’t any notes about that recorded by me. Every other panel supplied me with quite a lot of information. I truly hope you all enjoy reading these as much as I liked writing about them!

Our first wonderful guest, Torrey Devitto gave us information about herself as well as the shows she has been on. As many people would expect, she spoke about “Pretty Little Liars”, “The Vampire Diaries”, and “One Tree Hill” the most. She mentioned quite a few things here that weren’t mentioned at my first convention. Getting to learn this additional information about her was pretty incredible.  Hopefully you’ll start to feel like you know her!

Torrey Devitto’s (Meredith Fell) Panel:

• Torrey has never watched “The Matrix”
• Her favorite actress is Monica Bellucci.
• Torrey thinks when Meredith sees the repercussions of giving Elena the vampire blood, she might feel some guilt. The fact that she saved her will trump everything though. Meredith, being a doctor, cares about saving a patient, even if her methods aren’t always the best.
• While she was speaking, Ian Somerhalder came on stage, hugged her from behind, and frightened her.
• On One Tree Hill, Torrey enjoyed torturing Paul Johansson. She also loved playing Nanny Carrie.
• Meredith will go through some changes in season four. She’ll be integrating with more characters.
• Surprisingly, Torrey has no idea who “A” is on Pretty Little Liars. She would love to know though.
• Her favorite role that she has played was Nanny Carrie.
• She said that in the blood bags on TVD is sweet, sticky, corn syrup.
• If she could live in any time period, she’d choose the 1950′s or the 1800′s.
• When she’s not filming, she hands out with her dog, Beau, and her sister. She also enjoys hula hooping.
• On Pretty Little Liars, she mostly works with Troian Bellisario and is mostly on one set — The Hastings’ house. On The Vampire Diaries, she has the chance to work with different people in different situations.
• She loves photography and hula hoop dancing.
• Torrey wants to take archery classes.
• She doesn’t think she’ll make a solo violin CD, but has played on other people’s CDs.
• Torrey has a whole bunch of phobias; too many to list.
• If she could be a vampire in real life, she’d take the opportunity. The strength and speed appeals to her.
• Her younger sister, Maryelle, is and was more of a wild child. However, as a teenager she didn’t have her rebellious moments. This includes occasionally sneaking out of the house.
• Her role models are her parents.
• When she went to an audition, she fell and caused her sides and head shots to scatter all over the room.
• She likes playing characters with a personality that is the opposite of hers.
• Torrey likes any music except country. The music of the 50′s and 60′s really appeals to her.
• She wants to go to Hawaii. Tropical places really interest her. She also wants to go back to South Africa.
• Torrey likes “Hell on Heels” for Meredith’s theme song.
• She likes the “Lunachicks” and wants everyone to listen to them.
• She’d love to work with Martin Scorsese or Steven Spielberg.
• During Drake & Josh she babysat Drake Bell’s kitten.
• She’s originally from Long Island, New York. At ten or eleven she moved to Florida.
• In New York, she danced at a dance studio. These days she lives vicariously through her sister-in-law who dances.
• Torrey thinks that she and Meredith have similarities.
• She hates when people crack their thumbs and eat like cows.
• Shows she would like to be on include Dexter, Twin Peaks, and Six Feet Under.
• She would have loved to play Angelina Jolie’s role in Girl, Interrupted or Gia.
• As a kid, she mimicked Jim Carrey in Dumb & Dumber.
• In New Jersey her favorite thing to do is visit her in-laws, the Wasilewskis.

After Torrey, it was time for Paul and Ian to come on stage. Everyone was beginning to get antsy while waiting for double trouble to come on stage. To help pass the time, a fan-made video to the song “Boys, Boys, Boys” by Lady Gaga came on. The video, of course, starred Stefan and Damon Salvatore. Before everyone saw who was in the video, fans booed. They really wanted to see the real Paul and Ian above all. Soon enough, everyone was quiet and began to really enjoy the video. (Who wouldn’t love seeing those two on a big screen?) While still backstage, Paul sang the song, mocking it.  He also said, “This is the worst song ever.” His immediate playfulness was adorable. With the song still blaring, the two men came out. As expected, fans cheered very loudly.

Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) and Paul Wesley’s (Stefan Salvatore) Panel:

• Paul joked that it needs to be written in their contracts that they can never come out on stage to the song “Boys, Boys, Boys” ever again.
• Paul said that all the people at the convention were his family. He referred to them as, “one big fist pump”.
• Ian said he gets nervous and imagines everyone naked. Paul said he only imagines Ian naked.
• Ian fist pumped and sang “Boys, Boys, Boys.”
• Like the other guests, the boys were disappointed when someone asked a question signed “Anonymous”. They like knowing everyone’s names.
• Paul joked that when he and Ian shower together it takes twenty minutes.
• Paul said that in ten years at the Mystic Falls reunion, Stefan will be the same, except his hair will go up in size.
• Ian joked that his middle name is “Controversial”. To that, Paul said, “Ian Controversial Smoldypants.”
• Ian said the love triangle between Stefan/Elena/Damon is about to get a lot more intense.
• Paul said that Stefan and Elena are going to fight for Damon. In a high pitched voice he then said, “that’s my man, girl!”
• Ian jokingly said that they drain wild animals and drink them. Paul joked back, “Right, Mr. ISF.”
• Ian couldn’t hear himself and Paul said that he was about to open a can of whoopass.
• Paul petted Ian and in response, Ian purred.
• Ian mimicked Chewbacca.
• In the series finale, Ian wants redemption for Damon.
• The boys held hands and said that they’d walk off into the sunset together.
• All characters were hard for them to say goodbye to. Matt Davis was the hardest. They all still miss him. Vicki (Kayla Ewell) in season one was tough for Ian.
• Ian misses Damon’s fog.
• Ian said, “Sometimes Paul reminds me of Nina.” Paul response was, “What is wrong with you?”
• According to Paul, in the next episode they’re shooting, Stefan will be writing in his diary.
• If Ian and Paul were in a boyband, it would be called “Stamon” or “Defan”. Paul sang, “Defan’s back…alright!”
• The two men would like to do a boyband skit on Saturday Night Live.
• Paul joked that he only roller skates in spandex.
• In Roll Bounce, Paul put his outfit on incorrectly and it looked like he was wearing a diaper.
• Paul’s afraid of sharks. Ian tries not to fear anything.
• Paul joked that he’s just like Stefan because he cries, does his hair, and then cries some more.
• Ian thought the Dukes of Hazzard was cool.
• Paul’s craziest fan encounter was when a fan went to his house. They said, “Hey Paul, I’m here,” then proceeded to ask for a picture. Paul refused and then they screamed, “Well I’m not a fan anymore then!”
• Ian said as a kid he went into the women’s locker room at the spa and said he was “looking for his mom”.
• According to Ian, people have to squint to see Paul’s “Kielbasa”.
• The night prior, which was August 18th, Ian stared into the sky and watched the bats. He thought it was an incredible sight.
• Paul hopes for Ripper Stefan in season four.

Unfortunately, time ran out for Paul and Ian’s joint panel. The fun didn’t end there though. Next all the fans got to experience Ian’s special Gold panel. We were all very thankful for the opportunity to witness the special panel. Paul left the stage, leaving Ian alone. All the fans were excitedly preparing to ask questions. Unfortunately, it was only a half hour so I wasn’t able to jot down nearly as much information. I hope you all still enjoy reading what I got though!

Ian Somerhalder’s Gold Panel:

• The BP oil spilled caused him to start ISF.
• Ian said fans inspire him. Gandhi is another inspiration.
• Ian is working on expanding ISF all over the country.
• As a child, he aspired to be either a Marine Biologist or an actor.
• Ian’s childhood heroes were John Wayne and Clint Eastwood.

As I said before, unfortunately I was unable to get more information from just Ian. The shortness of his solo panel didn’t give fans a lot of time to ask different questions. Even so, I feel like we got some quality information out of him in that very short period of time. There was just one more panel left for the day, which pretty much concluded the convention. The last person going on stage for the day was the awesome Daniel Gillies. Everyone was very excited to see the highly anticipated actor. People were cheering loudly before he came on stage, just like with the other guests.

Daniel Gillies’ (Elijah Mikaelson) Panel:

• Elijah was originally only supposed to last a couple of episodes.
• Daniel says that Joseph Morgan is a really committed actor.
• Daniel felt kind of stupid in the coin throwing scene from season two.
• His personal preference is the more mysterious Elijah from when he first started playing him.
• If he could go back in time, he’d like to change some movies. Other than that he wouldn’t change anything.
• Daniel wants a new girlfriend for Elijah.
• He trained with the son of Mark Harmon who plays Gibbs on NCIS.
• He said he enjoyed working on NCIS.
• Daniel’s house was built in the 1920′s. He then joked that he wished he could go back and fix the leak issues. He would use better material to build it.
• He imitated male fans. They pretend not to be a fan, then proceed to say they love him and his acting.
• Daniel’s father is a pediatrician.
• To prepare for Saving Hope, he read, learned medical terminology, and went to hospitals to watch surgeries being performed.
• He referred to doctors as superheroes.
• Actual doctors advise the cast of Saving Hope.
• He wishes doctors were worshipped more.
• Daniel says if Elijah wasn’t focused on being a vampire, he could be an artifact dealer or a stripper.
• As a joke he said that he auditioned for Olivia Munn’s role in Magic Mike, but his breasts were too small.
• Nina Dobrev was super welcoming when he joined the TVD cast.
• He’s closest to Joseph Morgan and Paul Wesley. Claire Holt was referred to as his sister.
• Daniel said (as a joke) that he and Paul were inches away from each other whispering over pillowcases.
• If the Originals were really his siblings, his favorite would be Klaus.
• Daniel doesn’t watch The Vampire Diaries.
• He says Matt is the best for Caroline, but the most interesting is Klaus.
• Daniel wants Katherine for Elijah’s love interest. He also likes the thought of Elena/Elijah.
• The audience was blamed for his occasional dirty comments and innuendos.
• In season two, Daniel wanted Elijah to look older and less pretty than the other men. He went for a classical look.
• Hearing he looks better in person kind of annoys him.
• He says that Julie Plec is excited about the Original family.
• From age six on he did two or three plays a year.
• Daniel says the best part of his job is craft service.
• Daniel has two movies being released October 2, 2012. One is called Broken Kingdom and the other is called Kingdom Come. My mom asked the question about the movies and his response was, “The movie should be called, ‘why do I love you so much?”
• Broken Kingdom was filmed in Colombia. In order to successfully converse with the locals, he learned Spanish.
• Daniel joked that his memento from TVD would be Paul Wesley. He would also like to take some of the art that is made for Klaus.
• Daniel says he’s married to one of the most beautiful women on the planet. (For those who don’t know, his wife is the stunning Rachael Leigh Cook.)
• He loves the food in Toronto and says there is so much to do.

Daniel concluded this fun filled weekend. I was able to get two photos with Torrey and autographs from each wonderful guest. To my surprise, I was able to meet Julia and Agnieszka Wasilewski (Paul’s mom and sister) after exiting my photo op with Torrey. Both were such wonderful women. As for the cast, they were all just as hilarious as they were in San Francisco. Definitely one of the most genuinely nice casts out there. If you’re ever considering attending a convention for The Vampire Diaries, I suggest you do it. Both of my experiences were unforgettable and I would love to attend another eventually!
